Author, teacher and artist Mark Mehaffey AWS, NWS teaches a logical straight-forward approach to producing a strong painting. Mark discusses the use of resource materials, color and value in relationship to light, how to manipulate design elements to establish a focal area and create a path for the viewer’s eye. You will see how he uses his sketch book as a place to "think through" his paintings. He demonstrates how to use compliments to create a color "bounce" that give life to a painting. He discusses the logic of why and where he uses specific colors. Mark uses a simple inexpensive tool, the mouth atomizer, to blow watercolor in solution and create beautiful smooth transitions in large areas, rich darks and sparkling lights.
