If you haven't tried one of the daylight simulation lights in your sewing room or by your quilting chair, then you are missing a wonderful opportunity to make color choices a breeze and to reduce the strain of trying to see those tiny quilting stitches. And, though summer brings a welcome relief from winter's low-light conditions, extra daylight from a low-energy and low-heat source can be a great help in our craft. My favorite application is for rotary cutting. I bend the arm to place the light directly over my mat without worrying about the heat from those regular gooseneck lamps. It greatly reduces the amount of glare on those acrylic cutting tools and makes the lines so much easier to read.
