1900s-1980s
by Tom Tierney
College campuses have always been showplaces of fashion trends. This colorful paper doll collection highlights what young men and women were wearing on U.S. college campuses during much of the 20th century. Sixteen dolls (eight male and eight female figures) model clothing that epitomizes the latest fashions of each decade-including "flapper" outfits and raccoon coats of the 20s, sweaters, pleated skirts, bobby sox, and saddle oxfords from the 30s, "swing" skirts and corduroy suits of the 40s, on up to the exotic, Easterninfluenced styles of the 60s, and the sportswear and running shoes of the 80s. Capturing the spirit and flavor of nine decades of collegiate fashions, this collection will delight collectors, paper doll fans, and anyone with pleasant memories of those campus years.
